Plantronics CS55 Review Wireless Office Headset
The Plantronics CS55 wireless headset is another excellent product from Plantronics and is a next generation headset over the previous Plantronics CS50. This review is based on our staff and customer experience over years of service. So you can bet this one to be accurate based constant use and customer feedback.
This headset adapts to 98% of major corded desk phones and allows users to use their handset wirelessly. In the retail box, it comes fully packaged and ready to go. With a simple set up anyone can do, it can be set up ready in 5 minutes (after a full charge of course).
From there, it will provide up to 10 hours of talk time and 50 hours of stand by time, which is sufficient for most users. This unit also comes with an over the head option for wearing, as well as over the ear giving it flexibility. This is a nice option as when buying in volume, you don't have to accommodate everybody's individual preference as it comes with optional wearing styles.
Also, the Plantronics CS55 comes with DECT 6.0 which ensures calls are kept private. The CS55 performs well, callers on the other end should not be able to tell you are on a wireless headset and as a user, you should have great call clarity. The Plantronics CS55 comes with a built in amplifier so you can adjust hearing and microphone volume to suit the personal preference of the user.
One thing to note, although it is rated to a range of 300ft, in real life it only produces 60ft -100ft. For some users this is not enough. if range is really your requirement, we suggest you stick with the CS50 or look into our GN Netcom. In regards to noise canceling, this unit has some, but for louder environments, you might want to consider the Plantronics CS70N.
If you purchase the optional HL10 handset lifter, the user will have the ability to pick up the call remotely when they are not at their desk. The optional lifter is a must have feature. Although it may add a little bit more to the upfront cost, the use over the life of the unit will more then justify its purchase. A nice thing about Plantronics, is their durability to stand up and perform under heavy use.
Used daily in many places such as call centers, professional offices, reception, sales, home offices or just for performance enhancement, they are an excellent tool. We have found once one is introduced to an office, everyone wants one!
Another important note, is Plantronics supports their units with replacement parts and accessories well after a unit launch. So if you require a new battery, ear loops or some other small replacement, they are readily available from headset experts. Overall, our review of the Plantronics CS55 that it is a true performer. The only caveat is the shorter range. Our rating is a five out of five.
